The Chair Preserver
October 2021
As a commentary on Climate Change and Overconsumption this project focuses on targeting waste materials at the end of their life cycle. The Chair was discard- ed and broken on the side of the street and the Aircraft Life Jackets are past their expiry date and are no longer allowed to be used on planes any more. In the finishing process of the chair I painted 5 layers of different colors of paint with the outer surface reflecting the earth. As the chair is worn down it reveals a fire pallet to show that the earth is burning and is on fire. All the elements come together to provide a message that waste can be beautiful and we don’t need new materials to produce furniture.
